Our mission is to empower the hijra (transgender) population of India, through education, employment and healthcare in an environment of equality and dignity.

In the second most populous nation in the world, there are four to six million outcasts. These people are called hijra, which literally translates to eunuch - more commonly known, in the western world, as transgender. They are forced to the fringes of society, rejected and denied even the most basic human rights.

At OASIS International, we feel it is our responsibility to embrace the hijra of India and show them the love and compassion they deserve. A Christian organization, we look to Isaiah 56:4-5 as our call to action: “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, and choose what pleases me and hold fast my covenants. Even to them I will give in my house and within my walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off”.

The daytime "protest" was a joke. Over-hyped by the media, especially the Village Voice, it was a very small group of people who attmepted to surround the park holding hands. They didn't have enough do cover one side! Most of the residents of the neighborhood wanted to put a torch to the place, and would have, had not the city intervened, and we would have had a lot of french fried drug addicts, punks, and homeless as a result.

What a joke.
