Israel: Portraits of Terror

Documentary photo story posted on 27 May 2009 by Rafael Ben-Ari

Since the Israeli disengagement from Gaza 4 years ago, I have worked and lived in the area of the town of Sderot located in the southern part of Israel, less than a mile from Gaza. The town has become my “Photography Focused Subject”. I have photographed hundreds of Kassam rocket attacks that have struck, hurt and killed civilians, damaging their homes, schools, shopping malls and play grounds, destroying their lives. Since 2001, 7000 rockets where fired from the Gaza strip towards Sderot. In the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas, known as “Operation Cast Lead”, I have documented the story of those who suffered from the rocket terror attack in this infamous town from the point of view of photographing portraits of Sderot children, elderly citizens and women that where injured by Kassam rockets attacks. In this photography feature, I show the war through their facial expressions.

  1. They could leave in piece in Israel but they choose to leave in stolen lands. so it is hard to feel sorry for them. If these people were in USA or anywhere in Europe their children would be taken away form them for putting the kids in danger and not providing a safe place for them.

    The photographers are however great.

  2. Dear Harry thanks for your compliments regarding my photos.
As for the photo story it is ashamed that even today there is so many people around the world and like you that believe that Israeli people are leaving on a stolen land…!?

Please go, read and learn the history before you are adding a comment like that.
