Turkey: Istanbul, Crossroad Of Cultures
Istanbul was an ongoing issue in my travels. I have to admit that it has been a pleasant surprise, even though in this the first time, were a few days which I dedicated to photographing.
Istanbul, I was impressed by the warm hospitality of the Turks not to mention a tourist cash is an objective that has to be cared for and pampered. The Turks, as good traders, know that every foreigner who arrives in Istanbul is a fountain of money and get it out us by offering tea or whatever. The first of these strategies is that between the store and once in there to talk and negotiate, because everything can be negotiated. But be aware that not everyone has the same idea, because the city is full of people who sell watches, necklaces and other wonders in the end are real fraud.
The Turk in Istanbul is nice, I’d say a little heavy, sometimes annoying, but after a couple of days I got used to: my trick was to not look back when he offers me something, or lower the head, feel this way should not be bothering. If they are staring back or enter the dialogue and we are lost. Istambul is a crossroads of cultures and a top rules is to respect others.
One of the places that most fishermen were delighted me on the bridge trying to catch tiny fish. There are hours glued to each other, like a team ready to win every Olympic gold medals.
In the four days of my visit I had no choice but to go and visit, like any other tourist, the most important temples and buildings and I was fascinated with them. Perhaps too many people to get a good picture. The Grand Bazaar is definitely a place to lose but it’s very annoying every time traders try to take the “garden” within their stores to sell anything. Of course the Turks love to haggle over the price and told me a friend who lived there long ago, is a good idea to calculate between 5 and 10% above the offer price because the discount that we do.
And if you shoot pictures in Istanbul, it is a delight, more so are their sweet, one of the greatest pleasures that the tourist can find in his strenuous walks. The city is full of shops selling specialties for all tastes. In love with these delicacies I took with me a box of half a kilogram, but when I got home I noticed that were not the same because they traveled in the position of the aircraft. A good tip for those who want to enjoy these dishes is that they must travel in the cabin as the freezing cold with sugar as an ingredient, when they begin to break down normal temperature.
